Can You Help?
The dedicated care and attention which all our animals receive, unfortunately costs money,
and although our fund-raising events help to keep things ticking over, it is our charity shop
which provides us with our main source of income. This, however, does not run itself and
we are always looking for volunteers to help. Could you spare half a day or a couple of half
days in the shop? Recently we have been asked to do a couple of house clearances, one
in particular involved lifting a lot of heavy furniture. Unfortunately, these jobs are always
undertaken by the same people which makes it extremely hard work. Fortunately, Ali who
works at the kennels with the dogs, was able in this instance, to provide some muchneeded
muscle for which we are extremely grateful.
Could you provide an extra hand with the lifting, or do you have a van we could use?
These clearances don’t happen every week-end, but when they do, we could certainly use
an additional pair of hands.
If you could provide help of this nature or spare some time in the shop then please call
Margaret on tel. 0161 456 8515, who would be very pleased to hear from you.
We are also very grateful for the donation of goods for the shop and our fund-raising stalls,
especially tombola prizes where we do tend to struggle, as these have to be new goods,
and therefore are more difficult to come by.
Fundraising News
Fundraising is always slower in the Winter months,
however we are delighted to report that ;
Our Spring Fair on 28th March at the Scout Hut
raised £1,503.72.
Another successful Sponsored Dog Walk took place on
18th April which to date has raised £1640.32
Thanks again to Offerton Cricket Club for the use of
their excellent facilities. This was followed on 24th April by stalls at an Animal
Advice Day at Woodbank Park raising £81.49, which
was further increased by a donation of £33.00 from
Friends of Woodbank who organised the event.
